What Are the Objectives ?

This guide is designed to assist buyers in selecting pallets that meet minimum construction standards, which AMPCQ. member manufacturers have voluntarily committed to.

It also serves as a decision-making tool for buyers, manufacturers, and suppliers in the industry, helping them choose appropriate materials and understand the acceptable tolerances for those materials.

Wooden Pallets and the Environment

Contrary to popular belief, trees are never cut down specifically to produce wooden pallets. For over 50 years, the pallet industry has used value-added wood that would otherwise be destined for fuel or as input for the pulp and paper industry.

Wooden pallets comply with key environmental standards, following the 4 R’s:

Renewable | AMPCQ

Renewable

Wooden pallets are made from a renewable raw material — wood sourced from sustainable forestry practices.

Reusable | AMPCQ

Reusable

A well-constructed, standard wooden pallet can be reused for over 100 trips. We strongly encourage the use of returnable, standardized pallets to extend their lifespan and reduce waste.

Repairable | AMPCQ

Repairable

Wooden pallets are easy to repair at a fraction of their original cost, making them an economical and sustainable option.

Recyclable | AMPCQ

Recyclable

When a wooden pallet can no longer be reused or repaired, it can still be recycled in several ways: Disassembled for parts to create refurbished pallets, ground into wood chips for use as fuel, compost, or decorative mulch
